This week the Ping Hub artists exhibiting at the Silk Road Past, Present and Future Exhibition at Winns Gallery, E17 and Keeni Kessler Gallery, Penang have been invited to take part in a live VR experience that connected the exhibiting artists together.
The Silk Road exhibition is one of the art, photography, textile design and culture from across the globe and so this then became the obvious choice to become the perfect backdrop for us to try out a Silk Road Virtual Reality experience - a chance to truly transcend time, space and cultures.
Bringing the Virtual into Reality
The artists all collaborated LIVE on 18th and 19th July (as a part of the exhibition) coordinated by Continuum (aka Sean) and using their VR Platforms and Tools include Masterpiece VR and Google Tilt Brush were able to bring their own physical art to life as well as creating new Virtual pieces together. The participating artists had their own physical exhibition pieces scanned into the game and they themselves became the avatars that could interact in Virtual Reality with not only their own works of art but the art of their fellow exhibitors in London and Penang.
Getting 'virtualy' creative
Being in two countries at the same time!
What this ground breaking experience gave The Silk Road Exhibition's attendees was the chance to visit both exhibitions in Penang and London at the same time as well as the new sensation of interacting with not only the art but also the artists who created it. Jumping time, space and physical boundaries is a truly unique experience to humans and one that we are yet to fully appreciate in our normal day to day living at the moment. We believe this is the taste of things to come and we cannot wait to explore in, expand with and experience this virtual world again...... the possibilities are endless!
